Carburetor hose Question

Jimbee
I recently acquired a 1981 CB750C.  It sat around many years unused and it ran like crap so I decided to try and clean the carbs.  There was a lot of wax/varnish buildup and it actually ran better after I finished, but one carb was overflowing so I think the float was stuck.  I decided to get some rebuild kits and give it another try.  I have a question as to where one of the hoses go on the attached picture.  The smaller hose starting on the left T's in between #2 and #3 in-between the choke and the throttle linkage.  My question is where  does the end on the left side of the picture connect.  1981 CB750

Here is a post that may help. Between the two of you I think you may be able to get both bikes back together and running.

Looking at it.... It may be an overflow line but I am not positive on this.

I think you may be correct.  This is probably the hose that Fuel was spilling out of when my floats were sticking.  All this time I thought I forgot where it went.

Hello, I just got my first CB! It's a 82 cb750F SS! It was gifted to me by a long time friend who has gotten a flashy new bike. Yes!  I am very lucky to be givin such a nice ride for free! I have been looking at the threads on this site for a while and decided I should be a part of the family because of my new (well, new to me) ride. I am doing all the regular maintenance and some upgrades as well. My friend isn't a gearhead so he'd rather pay for a new bike then fix the old one, did I mention rich. I'm not rich, and happen to have a love for fixing what is broken. Anyway, my question is about the hose that is between the #2 & #3 Carbs. It's got a black "t" and looks like the fuel in from the accelerator pump, but I don't know where it connects? To the accelerator pump? Vent line? I have brought the Carbs to 2 Honda dealers and got different answers. I followed the conversion on this thread and I couldn't find an answer to Jimbee's question. I have the same problem! Please help! I want to ride this thing so bad!

After searching other threads it seems the consensus is that its a vent line that goes into the airbox and supplies fresh air to the carb float bowl. Someone on this forum said they feel a slight vacuum on the hose when the motor is running and throttle is applied, this would make sense if its a vent line for the float bowl that's not an overflow. also I read here that fresh air in the float (outside temp air) is important for proper Carburetor function. I will get a small filter to put on the end of the line because if it use to get clean air from the airbox after the filter then leaving it open would probably suck in dust particles, not a lot I would imagine but more than I would like. I'll post pics when I get it rigged up.
