Cb500k

Andycb500
Hi. I've just bought this bike and was looking for information if anyone can please help...
The frame number is cb500-1022481
Engine number is CB550E-1129781
It's a custom with a 16 inch rear wheel.
Needs a bit of tidying and wondered if anyone can confirm age of frame, engine etc.
I bought it with number plate, K reg. but guy said it had been stored years and he had lost v5....
Any useful info would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Andy

Welcome. Sorry I do not know what a "K reg and a V5" are. I am guessing you are in the UK? I am sure someone will be along to help. Your bike was made in 1971. Honda never had matching engine and frame numbers, but yours are really far apart. I wonder if the engine has been replaced.

Yes. UK. V5 is the ownership papers. K reg means registered in 1972 which fits with 1971 manufacture. If you were able to confirm age can you confirm model? Was there a custom version in the USA ?
The engine is definitely not original as it is a 550.
Thanks again

There was only one model in 1971. The "K" Model.

On the neck, look for a year. That would be when it was built. Been a long time since I looked, but on my 78, it was on the right side of the neck. Mine was 12/77, so it is listed as a k8.
