Check out my bad ass sandblaster

Ceruzziracing
Picked this up off ebay earlier this year. It is actually an aviation media blaster, but ill be shooting sand. It has an electric hopper that feeds and recirc's the media via those big ass 5" pipes at the base, but its not in the pic. As a point of reference, my taller daughter stands 5'2". both side doors swing open and has turntable inside. Big ass blaster

Tools, i can't remember off the top of my head, did a ton of research on the thing when i got it. The hopper actually does the heavy lifting, gun inside is a simple trigger/handle like a non commercial unit. i contacted the manufacturer in an effort to get a manual, etc. and they blew me off. The company had been bought and sold several times. From what i found out, it looks like it cost about $25K new (20 or so years ago). Auction was "No Reserve".....I aid a whopping $125
Had to make the three hour drive to pick it up twice. My wife always asks what the hell I'm going to do with it. I tell her I may never do anything but stand back and admire it

Same blaster we had at my work, used glass beads for blasting molds for injection molding. We had tables on both sides with tracks so we could roll the turn table in & out with a large mold on it. Sure miss using it for "goverment " jobs, now that I'm retired & the shop closed up.

Since we're referencing Tim "the tool man" Taylor: (I think this was in the pilot episode, when he wanted to turbocharge the dishwasher to clean off stuck-on food)

"Yeah, but we've got the only in-sink disposal that can puree' a brick."

You could sandblast an entire bike frame in that thing.  I see a revenue stream here...just need a paint booth right next door so you can coat them in primer right out of the blaster.  Or maybe a big oven and do it in powder coat.

The mind reels...

I keep joking with my buddy that its big enough for the "low rent" district lol. It will easily hold a complete frame on the turntable and do a full 360 rotation. Also has the tracks to pull the turntable out either end like a railroad track. Had both daughters in there, combined weight of almost 200 lbs, held it no problem. They made me proud when they asked if they could play on it  Who says you gotta have boys, they love working on all the toys

Bklion, i just took a good look inside the hopper and it is, in fact, filled with glass bead. Im thinking the unit is more complete than i originally surmised. Do you happen to remember the routing arrangement for the feed and return lines? Looks like the 1hp pump on hopper is to draw bead out of chamber and through filter screen to head to gun. It is a 110 plug and i believe it ran when we first picked it up. Id love to try this out on my snotty CB350 frame

Sorry I don't, But your going to need a large dust collecter hooked up to that or you won't see what your doing. We had a shaker type that would recover the beads & could use them again. It came from the same company that built the blaster

Mark, not to worry, I've got lots of big guns too
Bk, it pulls through 2 large pipes at base inside cabinet plus there is a vent that looks like it was used for clearing the dust ( prob with some sort of exhaust fan.  Either way, it beats the hell out of my Craftsman blaster-in-a-bucket mess lol. I won't have to wear a Tyvek suit anymore to keep my hide from getting blasted lol
