Clutch Cable

1978Cafe750f
So I replaced my grips today and while they were drying I decided to take off my can to see how it would sound.

Grips dried and I took it for a spin.  A mile up the hill and a few gears later the clutch cable broke.  Was able to ride it home and stomp gears as needed.  New cable is in the mail.

Is there a way to fix the broken one ... at least for a week?  Or do I just have to pass up on a week of perfect riding weather.

Drill out the hole in the watch-a-ma-gig where the cable goes in. then insert the cable in the hole, and fray the end. then solder the cable to the watch-a-ma-call-it.
