Clutch issues

barnfind
I have a 1969 cb750 just installed new clutch pack but as I was installing the pressure plate one of the flanges cracked I ordered another one and samething cracked the flange where the spring would sit so I finished installing the clutch because I can't seem to find one. Everything is good but it seems that the clutch is slightly engaged and not sure how to continue to adjust it any suggestions. Also does anyone have a pressure plate they want to sell ?

Thank you

It will have to be a K-5 or earlier. I will check to see if I have one.

It's common to try to install one too many clutch plates, especially when buying a set of plates designed to go on both the newer, and older bikes. Shiny did a write up on clutches, it's in the repair/tips section.

But I should be ok to run it like though right ?  It seems fine I'm just trying to figure out why it seems like it slightly engaged. Is there away to adjust it because I've tried acouple of things and no Difference. I've gone through the manual and seems that I'm doing everything right . I'll check out shiny write up.
Thanks again for the help.

I was gonna suggest this but didn't want to sound vain.

Is it the lifter plate that cracked on you? The plate that has the throwout bearing in the center and four bolts on the outer edges? Super easy to crack. Double check the splines on the hub and the pressure plate to make sure they are engaging. Real easy to make that mistake.

Yes, that's the plate that cracked on .. Twice. How do you check the splines on the hub and the pressure to see if it's engaged when it's covered with the out side cover where the lever is ? Or am I missing something.

So it's the lifter plate you need, and not the pressure plate?

I need the pressure plate, the one that screws into the lifter plate.

Re: Clutch issues

My new springs Are about a 1/4" bigger than my old one. My old ones are 1.215 give or take and the new ones are 1.448" is this the reason why I keep breaking my lift plates?

Thanks

Sorry I did not have an old style pressure plate. On the springs, I think they changed them also in the later models.

There's nothing wrong with the old springs so I think I'm going to put them back in, thanks for looking for the pressure plate.
