Crankshaft seals

mainexile
Stepson recently bought a 1981 cb750K that needs work.  After general cleaning (carbs and engine), I removed the left (points) cover to check timing.  Cavity had oil in the bottom and when started, oil leaked from all around the points plate and advance mechanism.  I'm assuming that the crankshaft seal is leaking, but when I check the illustrated parts list, it shows only one crankshaft seal - on the right side.  Does anyone know if the left side uses the same seal or does it have a different one.  I plan to replace both end seals as well as other oil seals, but I don't know what to get for the left side.  Thanks in advance.

I'm well aware of that - I just used the terminology to identify the location.  That being said, do you have any idea about the crankshaft seal?

There isn't a LH crank seal. The ignition ignitor runs wet, oil drains from the cavity back into the crankcase. Sealant on the outer cover is all you need.

Sorry, wrong terminology. I'ts a pulse generator behind the cover, not an ignitor, on the DOHC motor.

Thanks for the info.  I haven't worked on bikes since the early '70s, but I've worked on a ton of cars and boats.  In those worlds, I've never seen a configuration  like that...hard to comprehend that the pulse generators would be in a "wet" area.
