Re: DOHC carb cleaning procedure

I just received a 79 cb750 in number of boxes. The air filter box is gone and I am trying to figure out what the second t-fitting is. The solid brass fitting is the fuel line but what is the other hose that passes through the bank bracket is a mistery. Can you help?
Thanks,

I believe it is an air vent used for the auto petcock. The auto petcock is often removed as it isn't necessary and makes cold starting harder.
I just took mine off and noticed a significant improvement.
If yours is already missing you can probably just leave that not hooked up to anything (as long as the vacuum nipple on the 2nd carb is properly capped).

Actually, after thinking about this a little more, the auto petcock was on models later than 81. You'll have to wait for tools or someone else who knows more about your bike.
You might consider a picture and creating your own thread.

If you sit down and read all the measurement ,names...etc. it  can seem very intimidating. Once you get in there it really is not bad at all. If you are worried you won't remember hoe something came apart, make notes. If it ends up not working, then take them to a shop. You got nothing to lose by giving it a shot!

Take your time. Take your own pic as you go. Follow the guides carefully. You'll do fine. Before this, the most advanced thing I did on my bike change the brake pads.

If you can manage the extra cash for Honda brake pads it MAY be worth it. I have Bikemaster pads on mine and they are very noisy. I have heard that the Honda pads are quiet. I can't promise from experience, though. Just a thought. Good luck with your carbs!

For what its worth, I bought pads from the dealer and felt I overpaid, but they are as quiet as a mouse.
I needed to get a pin that was only available from the dealer and was going to drive across town to get a cheaper set of pads, but while I was there I said screw it and bought the pads there too.
