Today I changed the mounting of the seat in order to remove quickly, if there is something wrong with the electrics that I stuffed underneath. Changed over from bolts to Dzus fasteners.

Made a, for now, steel underpan to accomodate the, ultralight, battery and regulator. Will be replaced by either aluminium sheet or even carbonfibre.

Also started to make a baffle inside the exhaust, 'cause due to regulations noiselevel may not exceed 104 dBa. Mine is louder at 'full cry'.

To make riding in the dark a bit easier hooked up some lights into the rev counter.

Well bike is getting there....... Now only the tank needs his orange. All electrics work so the small batterie will be kept at good level. Bike feels comfy when you're sitting on her, so the 3 hr demo, divided in stints of 30 min. max (regulations) should be easy.
Have to turn down a 16th 530 front sprocket down to 520 to shorten the gearing. And finally some final 'tuning'. Hope it all works out.

Well the 3hr did not go well, in fact we did not even enter the race. There occurred a prob with the charging system that worked fine before. Bike ran great after some small adjustments t othe track, but then the ignition started to play up which let me to the charging of the battery. The field coil broke, which was one part I could not get anywhere so had to pull the plug. Bitter end of what looked to be a great weekend.

Here all looked well.

This is where it went wrong.

I will hang in there and the bike runs great so that should not be  a prob. But there are not many occasions to ride a bike like this overhere. Only abroad. Well time permitted will do so and will keep you posted. Thanks.

Last weekend we did some track in the North of France. Nice opportunity to let my youngest have his first outing with my bike and on track. He did very well in showing tremendous progress during the day.
Made me very proud, but to be honest was very, very nervous at start.

Yeah, I was the same way about my middle child (nicknamed DangerBoy) getting his Ninja 250. He loves screaming around on that bike.  Made me a bit nervous, but he's toned it down quite a bit since those days. My youngest was almost the same with his CB550, but he's calmed down/grown up as well.

I guess that just leaves me to do all the wild stuff: y'know...starting a bike with too much choke, leaning an extra 5 degrees on the exit ramp, keeping the right turn signal on WELL after making that turn.

Kinda like this guy. :-)

Very interesting project. Thanks for showing us the photos.
Too bad about that field coil.

Question: WHY did you put K7 slides in K8 carbs????  That really interests me.

One racing season on the dirt tracks I was getting 1st or 2nd all season, then on the last race
a woodruff key on the crankshaft of my OSSA TT Special sheared in half.
It took some work to figure out what happened. (Casa Grande Speedway) Arizona.

The flywheel was still on the crank and looked normal . It had shifted and the timing was way off.

Re: Dry clutch on CB750

I put the K7 slides in purely out of weight considerations. They are made of alloy instead of the chromed brass ones of the F2. Besides that I removed all of the choke parts. Gives it more airflow on top.
