Dry clutch on CB750

voxonda
Am new to this forum, but am frequently on the SOHC-forum. Am from the Netherlands.
Recently build a '78 F2 engine in a K6 frame to testdrive some of the parts I make.

The bike is technical OK, but needs some nice paint on it.
F2 engine, Web 41a cam, open carb's now with K7 slides, handmade exhaust after the Yoshimura race pipe of the early '70.
On pic with Accent ignition but use also a selfgenerating ignition. Use the bike only on track, tho it is still registered.

Cheers, Rob

Welcome to the forum. That is one awesome bike you have there. What kind of clutch cover is that?

Thanks Tools,

The clutch is completely different and does not longer run in oil but is of the dry type. build it with a friend of mine. Runs special made Barnett plates. Works awesome and very light. It is a bit 'grabby' on take off but other then that great.

Well decision has been made to participate in a 3hour Endurance race on Septembre 10th. Still way ahead but need time to prep the bike since race is partial raced in the dark, so need light etc. To get some form of protection mounted a quarter fairing and two Hella lights and rear lights.

Way too cool. So, you have a dry clutch fitted but what exhaust are you running and what alternator assembly? That engine makes me contemplate theft!

On the pic, no alternator but a self-generating ignition. Exhaust is build by me after the Yoshimura 4 into 1 from the '70s. Really like the engine too, runs great even if the carb's are still a bit off. Rebuild the engine with all new chains, bearings and tensioners, new rings, slightly ported head and a webcam 41. Nothing too wild just want to keep it running.

Not bad. A little extra power while still maintaining reliability. Thats the direction I want to go sometime too.
So, it is a magneto system then?

Re: Dry clutch on CB750

Yes, magneto system. For now I have gone back to the electronic Accent ignition setup. And mount this magneto on my other bike. Reason is I have to have a generator for the night session of the 3 hour race, to cope with the lights. Do not want the chance of running out of lights due to empty battery.

and I want to keep it all reliable. Since it is a F2 engine it is fairly strong compared to the K models. And with the cam and open carb's and exhaust good for even some extra. But will Dyno it before the race to make sure all is well.

Thanks. Bike is getting there were I want it to be. A Endurance racer build the way it was done back in the 70's but with some 'tricks' of my own. Today the seat was taken to a guy who will upholster it.  Beginning to throw some paint on it. Screen of the quarter fairing arrived yesterday. Just 6 weeks to go..................

Well build is going in the right direction, but still some work to do. In order to test in heavier conditions the bike is participating in a 3 hour demo race. Tried to make some pic's but the camera is off. It does not set itself. Will try and shoot some new ones tomorrow. But just to give a impression.
