Dyna Installation

Tonup76
How much work is involved in installing a Dyna Electronic Ignition?

Is it as simple as installing it and making sure the timing is correct or is there more to it(do you get instructions WITH the Dyna kit)?

I'm asking because it seems like you can pick up a Dyna at a good price from Z1.  I've asked my mechanic how much it would be to install and he's saying like 100 bucks in labor, that's a bit rich for me.  If anyone here has some instructions as to how to do this I would really appreciate it.

Also, do you need to replace the coils when you do this?  OR is it not necessary unless you want a bit more preformance.  Thanks for the help guys.

For best results you can replace the coils but you do not need to.
I am assuming dyna S here.
Also, $100 is not worth the labor. It is not that hard to put in. You take off the points plate but leave the advancer on. Pull the wiring for the coils off. Run the wiring for the dyna up and connect it. The only issue is a wire you are supposed to connect with a cheap plastic connector. Best bet is to remove a small bit of insulation and splice the wire in.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
