I have this other buddy Earl. Now Earl is a real character. A real child of the 60s. After spending some time in Vietnam with the 82nd Airborne, he made it home and has worked as a stage hand ever since.
Now Earl does not own anything with more then two wheels. This is his 86 VN 750 Vulcan. It was not charging, and he had lost the key, so he opened the gas cap with a screwdriver by prying it open. He then held it shut with duct-tape.
After installing a new stator, and reg/rect, I went to rebuild the carbs, but they were not worth rebuilding. I do not know how it was even running. I got another set of carbs, and between the two sets I was able to come up with one good set. Then Earl came up with this cheesy HD seat he wanted mounted. He also wanted some sort of fender to hold his saddle bags. So I mounted the cheesy seat, and a fender off a 78 CB 400. I then took an old Suzuki tank, and cut the filler neck out of, and welded it to the Vulcan tank. Then my OCD kicked in, and I repaired all the dents, and painted it. I sprayed it semi-gloos black, and then did the top with Hammer Finish Copper. Now he is clling the bike Copperhead.
BTW That's Earl.
Next up is breather covers, side covers, and a different taillight.
