Electrical

Ok...

I changed my tail light and flashers, intalled everything quickly since i knew i had to cut my fender soon. Today i took uninstalled those and bobbed the rear fender. Everything went very well. I reinstalled the rear aftermarket flashers and tail light and replaced the front turn signals by the same aftermarket ones. Regular bulbs, no led.

Tail light is ok but the flashers dont flash anymore. The front ones stays on, running lights. When i put the flashers, say right, the right rear signal gets on and stays on and the front one turns off.

Bad ground? I'd be surprise
Burnt fuse?
Flasher relay?

The front might be grounding through the rear ones. I am assuming that your bulbs are double filament.

Re: Electrical

My problem must coming from the front, since the rear was ok before i touch the front turn signals. By dual filament, you mean 2 wires coming from the turn signals? Yes. 1 black and one black and white with a + on it.

I mean the bulb has two filaments in it. It would have a dim light, and a bright light. Most turn signals only have a single filament, and two wires. One hot, and one ground. The front forks/headlight does not have a very good ground through the bearings. You really need to ground to the green wire in the headlight that runs into the wiring harness.

Re: Electrical

Well i dont know, i should check the bulb to see if theres 2 filaments in it. Coming from the headlight, i have 2 black wires for each turn signals. Is it one for running light and one for blinking? I should put those 2 together with the + from the flashers and a ground from the green one in the headlight going to the second wire from the flashers??

I went for a ride tonight and both markers between gauges are on for turning signals.

If, you remove the bulb, and it has two silver dots on the bottom. It is a double filament. If it has only one. it is a single. The double would need two sources of power. One, for running lights, and another, for flashers. then it would need a ground. If it is a single then one wire would go to flashers, and the other to ground. If it is a single, and, you have both wires hooked to power. They will stay on all the time.

Your bike has a charging problem. Down load the service manual from our manual section, and start going through the steps to check it out.

After Hurricane Irene's 3 days of rain, i got back to the bike. Presto, in 5 mins everything is A-Ok!

Both wires coming from the headlight are connected with the + wire from the turn signal and the other wire is connected to a good "green wire" ground in the headlight (thats for one side of course) :)
