Electrical

Braden
I have a 1982 CB759F Super Sport. I just changed the oil, clutch cable and tightened the fuel valve. Bike started with no issues. 4 hours later I tried to take the bike for a spin. Rolling out of driveway in neutral, i turned the key on. The lights turned on, then i pushed the starter and everything shut off and I cannot get power to anything.

Battery is new and tested at 12 v. Connections are tight. I dont see any loose cables. Main fuse is good and so are the remaining fuses.

Any help is appreciated. Otherwise i will buy a newer bike.

Did you check the fuses?
They should be under a plastic cover mounted to the center of the handle bars.

Use a tester to see if the fuses are getting power. One just never knows.
Simple if some one else can, why can't I

Check the small red wire coming out of the plug at the starter rely. Make sure it's pushed in and seeing 12v.  Also make sure the battery work under a load.  I just had a battery go bad. It tested 12v with no load but couldn't even light up a light bulb.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a test light and found the main fuse was bad even though it appeared fine. Bike is running now. In the meantime I bought a 2002 Honda VTX 1800 c. Both bikes running well, what else could I ask for.

Thanks again.
