When you say "jump start" are you talking about a battery charger, or one of those power packs that you can jump start a car with?

I've cleaned parts with this method many times. Always works well. I use a battery charger set on 10 amps. The 2 amp setting works too slow. The next setting up on mine is 50 amps and its kinda extreme. It creates too much heat too fast for me to be comfortable.  There's a jump start setting on my machine at 250. I don't think id ever play with 250 amps after seeing how 50 amps acts.

Id say 10- 20 amps is a good current to aim for. Good luck. Be safe.

Electrolysis is a rust removal trick. You don't want to do this with your carbs. I don't know how that metal would react,if at all, to the solution.

If you use any solvent strong enough to actually do any real cleaning chances are it will ruin,or at least compromise, any rubber bits in your carburetors. If they need cleaning then a full disassembly is in order.

Taking these carbs down is really no big deal. You can have them apart in just a few minutes.
