Exhaust: Copper or Flat Gaskets?

What's the recommended choice? I found flat ones on mine, but research elsewhere has pointd towards the copper and I can't find any topic here that addresses this.

I have used the flat paper/metal ones and they have worked perfectly fine.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

See, 1 on each side. Horse a piece. I will add that I have reused mine more than once. I don't know if copper is more sensitive to that or not.
