Feeling happy

Kha
Ive just gone through my carbs and clean them thoroughly. Bitch to put back though. Read carefully through all of the carb cleaning posts and Im happy with the results. All cylinder is firing and idling well. I have a few question to ask though. Ive set the fuel screw to 1 1/2 turn like Clymers stated and my bike is completely stock.

Now do I need to adjust it again with the bike running? Right now the bike Idle is set at 1100. Bench sync it according to instructions already.

For best performance, yes. You want to sync the carbs with vacuum guages, the morgan carbtune is best but expensive. regular vacuum gauges will be fine.

Once done, then a good tach able to read down to about 30 rpm and then you start with #1 and tune it till rpm stops climbing and then back off a bit. Repeat for the next 3. When done, it should go like hell.

Took it for a ride and bike keeps shutting down when slowing down. I was trying to adjust the fuel screw but pretty hard to reach without burning my hands. I was looking at a flexible screwdriver. Has anybody use this to do the screw before?

I always use a flexible screwdriver, when adjusting the carbs on the bike.

If you're talking about the idle knob, instead of using your thumb and index finger,
try using the index and middle finger, palm up, on the left hand.
It's kind of tricky at first, but this method lets you keep your hand back towards the airbox,
just enough off the hot fins to keep the burn away.

Took mine to work the day before last, it was idling 1,500, dropped that thing down to a grand at
a stoplight.

Was adjusting the fuel mixture screw and realized that carb #2 was leaking small amt of fuel. Well, part of the float gasket being broken and I used rtv silicone to patch up the broken area what I was doing the carbs. It's leaking from the same area the silicone was used too. Would there be any other cause of fuel leak from the float bowl?

RTV is horrible for a fuel leak. I tried it when I was a noob and it chunked off and into the jets.

There isn't much you can do but get proper gaskets.

btw, I got this tool and it works alright. http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/MOTION-PRO-PILOT-SCREW-ADJUST

Update: well Ive fixed the leaks. I took it for a ride and it rode great. When I got home and let it idle, it sounds like it gonna die. Ive set the fuel screw to 1 3/4 all 4 carbs and idle seems to be around 1.1k or 1.2k. Revved it up and it sound good but then it died. Start up fine. Please tell me that adjustments to the fuel screw will fix it because I really don't want to take the carbs off again. lol

Everything in the carbs have been gone through twice. Accel pump is work also.
