Flasher relay

surfish95747
Hey guys, I just wanted to check and see if I got the right flasher relay to be able to use LED turn signals and brake light etc. This is what my 1980 cb750k had:

And this is the one I bought:

I know I've read in the past the match the number of prongs on the original flasher to the new flasher, but I noticed my bike had a two prong relay on it with three cables going to the relay, one was not connected to anything. So I got a relay that has a third prong. Why would it not have been using all three? Okay thanks guys!

The green wire is a ground wire, and might have went somewhere else. You can use the three prong flasher with your two prong system. You will just not use one of the prongs.

Yep, it says LED 2-6 lamps,so you're good to go. FYI, an H4 headlight plug fits those flasher relays perfectly.

E- earth or ground
L- lights or turn signals
B- Battery or 12v

So you'll just be using L & B. Wouldn't hurt to use the E terminal. IIRC, there is a - wire hanging out nearby anyway.

Tools and shinyribs, you guys are the best. I plugged it in and the rear tail light/winkers works beautifully. I had to use the green "dangling" wire for it to work. Now I just need a new left side control switch as it is very old and very finiky. Oh well! off to spend more money!

You might be able to clean things up enough and lube it. It may still work.

This ^ The old grease inside there is pretty dried up at this point. A good cleaning does wonders for them. Just work slow while disassembling. And work over top of a large towel. There's a few little springs and tiny steel balls that like to fall out and go missing.

Okay guys, I tore it apart (thining what else could I loose, if I mess it up, I just buy a new one anyways) and cleaned it. It WAS gummed up but that wasn't the main problem.

The problem was the little switch part that moves back and forth

The little plastic knob that sticks up into the switch lever was VERY worn (after 30 I guess plastic does that). So I took some Plastic Weld and made a new more robust knob. Filed it down so the switch lever could fit over the knob and walah!

Now the left and right turn signal clicks on perfectly. Thanks guys for the motivation to fix my existing switch and save me some money!
