Frame Color

coffeegod
I'm considering painting my '82 CB750C frame. What's everyones opinion on frame colour, almost every bike I see is the stock semi gloss black. I don't see much through google pictures. Anyone paint their frame something different?

Hoosier Daddy painted his red.Looks killer. I've seen some silver frames that I thought looked nice. Depends on what you have planned for the tins,I suppose.

Yeah I'm scared to go with anything than stock on the frame, just haven't seen many good examples on these Honda's.

I thought of flat black, I just keep thinking it may be a pain to keep clean! Anyone on here do flat black?

Mine is a wine-red and I really like it. Just keep in mind that once you paint it it's probably gonna stay that color as it's a pain to redo

I've thought about painting mine zinc chromate. Its what all ww2 aircraft frames and interiors were painted. Its also fire resistant! Not that fire resistance is a high concern of course.

Here is mine that shiney ribs was talking about (thanks for the props buddy!)

The Zooky GS750 I did before this got a metalic charcoal color, not as noticable until you get it out in the sun.

I think it is cool to see some one do some thing different. I will be painting my frame the same color as my tins.

Re: Frame Color

Ahhhhh decisions! My chopper will definitely be defined by the tins but it's the '82 I'm working on now I having a tough time deciding. It's going to be fairly stock so I don't want to go too wild even though that red is pretty killer :) Ya I might go the flat black or charcoal.... something subtle but not stock at the same time. That zinc would be really cool on an old WWII era bike!

Anyone find powder coating was a mistake for reassembly? I keep hearing it can be a real pain in the butt for that.... but really durable at the same time.

Thanks for all the input, its appreciated!

A friend of one of my sons (well, he's my friend too) tore down his CB500, and powder coated the frame gloss white.  The fenders, tank and other tins were to be a nice green. He went to Ohio University (go Bobcats!), and those are the school colors. It looks nice.

I think I'd be partial to a matte black myself.  I'm kind of a purist that way.  But I do like that metallic charcoal in the pic above, too.

My frame is blk.stk.Nice and goes with everything/color.
But my bike will soon be covered in gold metal flake
(lots of tangerine & yellow along with hits of pink N blue)

SEE HOW I DID THE ORANGE & YELLOWS here
Thinking of going Orange with a Lil gold powder fake on the frame ,
but that will be when the engine gets pulled for a bore job.

Take the Vetter faring off(staying as is),
replace with Harley Sporster faring(I have)

This Lil one will show all of frame
                                            (Remove baggs & hitch)
Like having 2 totaly different bikes
                                              1 winter / 1 summer
Just another way of thinking when you do your frame

That sounds pretty flashy Piute! You'll have to throw up some pics when your done.

I think flat black can look pretty cool if you have good accents with bright colored pinstriping or chrome. Also gives of a natural mean look ;)
