Frame Jig

Dirty
Race season is finally winding down, time to get back on bike projects! Trying to get my 74 frame jigged up to make it a hard tail. My question is does any body have good top down dimensions for these frames? If I plumb down fron steering neck and down from center of rear seat hoop and shock mounts (which is only measurement that i can find), both of the lower motor mounts and the rear axle center line are off about 3/8 of an inch. Also from outside of frame on right side is 3/4 of an inch closer to my centerline then it is from left side. Wondering what were the tolerences back in 74?? From what I can come up with is that my neck looks a little twisted in the chassis. Any ideas? Thanks, Dirty

To all that have done this, should I just make sure neck and center of swing arm are true and not care so much about motor and rest of frame are off since i will only be using neck and two front motor mounts?
thanks, Dirty

The motor mounts and swing arm are off center on these bikes. My advice would be to get a Cycle one mfg hardtail section. Well worth the money, and no headaches.

Thanks Tools but im not one for buying what I can build! I have a shop full of materials and tools , the problem is that by the time I add up my hours spent im sure a Cycle one would have been the way to go! to late now!! Any idea how off set they are? Ill post tomorrow the measurements I got but would be nice to check mine with somebody else's. Thanks, Dirty

I also am capable of doing this kind of work, but for $300.00 I know when to farm it out. To really do the job right, you need a frame jig. This will cost way more then $300.00. I have done it on a table with levels, and squares working off the original swing arm, but this just looks tacky after it's done.
