I was hoping to not have to put a seal on there but when I took a closer look and followed the route on the top box it would get in there.

So I figured I would change the oil. That started out not so well.

I managed to mangle the old oil filter bolt that everyone seems to hate. I rounded it off with a proper socket, then tried to use a pipe wrench. That left it nice and round. Extractor? Yup, that made it round and shiny. Shave the sides and use vise grips? Yup, now it was oblong, shiny and still stuck. Cut a slit and use an impact driver? Yup, now it was oblong, shiny, stripped and still stuck. So I took some advice from a friend. When in doubt, cut that mother out.
Assemble the tools:

Weather control devices for those wonderfully sunny 90* days with 90% humidity with no breeze (tools1 knows what Im talking about):

Grabbed a few of my favorite beverages:

Take a drink, then cut:

And another drink, more cutting:

Damn thats good beer, and problem no more. Threads weren't seized up, so I figure it was bonded at the top where the nut/washer meets the housing. Probably has to do with having two different metals, heat and cold and some other stuff. Damn good beer.

New housing and brand new 17mm bolt. Not too tight, not too loose.

Only 90*. You had a really cool day there. I would have been wearing my jacket.

LOL yeah it was a fairly decent day. If I had a lick of sense I would have started early and not high noon. I cant wait till the 80s hit so I can get more done.
Carb question, though I think I know the answer. I made an impromptu gas tank with a gatorade bottle and some hose, went to crank it and she wants to turn but wouldnt go all the way. Not sure about spark but I can check that later because the pressing issue is that gas dumped out of the overfill tubes and between the float bowl and the gasket. It was more or less just streams of fuel running down the overfill tubes and the carbs.
Im thinking something is gummed up inside, preventing gas from flowing to the chamber but the gaskets are such crap that its just spilling out rather then remaining in the float bowls. OR because the gaskets are such crap that its just spilling out without building up. Although those overfill tubes go above the gasket, and if its leaking so badly out of the gasket it shouldnt pour out of those tubes either.
Id take a pic of it while its happening but its a pretty large amount of gas that I dont care to have dumped all over the place. Not too keen on starting a fire either.

Sitting still with the correct float level, gas wont really reach the float bowl gaskets. I think the overflow issue is most likely in your needles. Hold on,did you ask a question or were you  just saying?...shoulda read your post better. Regardless, you're hard on filter housings! LOL. Next time, just cut the head off the bolt and leave the poor filter housing alive! Just picking on ya man

Yeah Im pretty bad with questions, normally because I try to figure out why something went wrong so I include my own solution or cause in the question. But yup, I figured I would probably have to rebuild them due to sitting so long and who knows what else may be wrong. I wanted to get it cranked, I expected it to run poorly or barely at all. Did not expect to have rivers of gas running down to the engine.
Where is a decent place to buy rebuild kit? I may as well get jets, needles, gaskets etc. Someone had mentioned that the carbs were not for a K but maybe for an F, I included pics for ID if anyone happens to know.

Those are round top carbs. Used on all CB 750's from 69-76, except for the 76 A model. It was the first to have the keyhole carbs. As for needing Kits. I just get new float bowl gaskets (Z1 Enterprises) and new O-rings for the fuel tubes. Those are 10mm X 2mm X 6mm, and can be gotten at most auto parts stores.

I just clean the jets. If the float needles are rubber tipped replace them. If they are not reuse them. Also clean the needle valve seat with chrome polish, and a q-tip.
