Gasping throtle

If I try and throtle the bike up, even when warm, it stumbles and gags. Would a carb rebuild be worth it? A new diaphram? Valve adjustment? When I go to pull out in first gear it needs a lot of throttle and easy out on the clutch, and suggestions for where I should begin?

Might very well be your carbs. You didn't say what kind of bike, but start with the easiest first. Anytime I get a new machine I like to go thru everything to verify its right and for something to tinker with. Start with your tune up as in new plugs, verify timing and valve adjustment. See how it works from there and maybe rebuild carburators. Not much to it, just a matter of tearing apart, inspecting, cleaning, and putting back together.

I agree with other post too although it could also be you carbs being out of balance alot. When they aren't in balance it affects low end response alot.
