Greetings and questions...

NewRider
Hello all, I just signed up for this forum as urged by one of my buddies from work (he said he found them indispensible while refurbing his vtx)  I just purchased a 77 CB750F that needs a little work.  My buddy and I are up for the challenge, but I did have a couple of newbie questions about ordering parts and accessories.  What are some good, reliable online dealers for things like passenger seats, handlebar grips, control pedals, and saddlebags?  How about parts?  I've looked at a bunch of sites but have no good way to know what the quality of their service and products are (bikebandit, oldbikebarn, cruisercustomizing, etc.).  Also, I have flat black paint on the exhaust pipes that needs a little touch up.  What's a good paint that will hold up to these high temp. conditions?  And finally, where can I get a good deal on a primary chain?  It doesn't have to be OEM as long as it works right and isn't more than 100 bucks (I hope!).  Thanks so much and I look forward to keeping you posted on my project.  Pics will be up soon!

I just stumbled upon your post and as I am in Australia and away from home, I borrowed a relatives computer as I couldnt stand the thought of all these posts from newbies wanting information. To date I have always used www.hdlparts.com. It seems they are the only company that has every single item you need for you CB750F Most other sites done carry everything and are either N/A or out of stock. hdlparts.com have never let me down . Now I can carry on with my Christmas shopping and other chores and will be back online to answer your Questions and queries on the 5th January. Oh and by the way there are nos such things as "cheap" parts for these Hondas. Dont even think about trying to buy cheap parts as you will live to regret the day you did.

Thanks for the info and wise words of advice.  I wasn't looking for shotty parts just to save a couple bucks, but wanted to know if there were equivalent parts for a bit cheaper via certain suppliers.  I have been doing some more searching and found a couple OEM places (direct line included) that have very reasonable prices and this way I'll know I'm getting a quality piece for my bike.  I placed my first order with HDL yesterday and they have already shipped my items, due to arrive on friday.  Can't beat that kind of service!  Plus, I like the way they have the blowout schematics so you can easily pinpoint just the right thing you're looking for.  Thanks again and enjoy the land down under!  I'm sure you'll hear more out of me before my restoration/refurb. is complete.  Be Well!
