What about welding it?

That's cast aluminum. That stuff is almost impossible to weld. It just disappears on, you.

I have always had good luck welding cast aluminum in the past. Heads and intake manifolds. Even a few wheels, bell housing and tranny cases.Oh,I just did a tail shaft last weekend and a TH400 case about a month ago...thanks for jynxing me bro...I'll never be able to do one again. But seriously,I can weld it ,unless it is an extremely junky alloy.Which I doubt, since it was used for a suspension component.
Piute,if you run out of options mail it to me.I'll fix it gladly.

@ Rib's
Ya-see ,there's Alot of stuff that bolts to it ,Brake res.,N switch, rear peg N front peg,(were crack is ). It can be welded ,I can't,I use A electric stud gun and cutting torch great, the center need to stay the same of course AND it will get painted (eventually some type of permanent coated )

Would it hold the load OK if you were to just weld the outside of the crack together? Or does it need to be welded thru and thru,to where the openings would have to be re-machined? Welding it thru and thru would demand a HUGE v-notch(from the pics I'd guess close to an inch deep) to get all the way down, would introduce a ton of heat into the piece and could create warpage issues. It could be done but would have to cool naturally thru several welding/cooling cycles and could take several days(with my schedule) to get it done.I know you dont have that kind of time. How far from the hole is the crack? If it is 1/4" or more you should be able to weld it closed without disturbing the opening. If it's just welding the crack that should take just a few minutes, really.
I haven't found a piece of aluminum I can't weld yet other than a few pieces of really cheap stock. They were obviously a VERY poor alloy since the ended up rusting later .
But Tools may be right about that bracket.I have never welded one of those particular brackets before and it very well may be un-doable.It all depends on the alloy. But if it were on my bike I'd give it a shot. You got nothing to lose if it won't weld, right?

Just went out to see how strong it was ,gave the peg a kick then tryed so loosen nut . Sure enough cracked on bottom all the way thru now it's in 2 peaces but still hanging on turn that nut and it's bent inside Not good aLL THE WAY THRU n ACROSS This is worse then I thought, can be fixed we got the technology,Glass N metal spacers think maybe 1 to manyCorona's

HAHA. I dont think glass is gonna cure that one.
|
|
So Ya think it could be welded and then I could drill and file the hole back,I believe that Honda made this bigg fugly thing cause the bike needed the extra strength in this area,Also going to make a cardboard pattern and may make of steal, not sure whats all behind it.So may get by with steal straps

There should be enough material in the frame to support the swing arm with out that bracket. Just a guess here, but since your bolt is bent, something musta happened in the past to bend that bolt and when they drove it in or out it probably stressed the bracket. That bracket pretty much just holds your peg and whatever pressure you put on your brake pedal, which is not that much. Send it and I'll see what I can do. We got nothing to lose, right? It's un-useable now?

The year before 76F they had less h.p. and that bracket was Small just held the reservoir N rear brake switch stuff,I believe the frame has a weak spot here ,cause if it were to flex it would be here in front of rear swing arm mount. Just my thought.
