Halp Please.

1982CB750K
I recently bought an 1982 Honda CB 750K. at this point it has been all cleaned out and passed inspection and such. but there has arisen a few things that are concerning. one is that when trying to go on the highway in 5th gear at 60 it is around 5000 and 65 is 5.5 (meaning 5500), is this right? i have not been riding long but for this bike from what i have been reading that is a little high. the other issue that i am having is that once the bike gets warmed up it while either in first with clutch pulled in or neutral will have an idle speed of around 4-4500 RPM i know this should not be happening as the idle should be 1000 -/+ 100 i have it set to where it should be at 1100. If i leave the clutch half engaged it will lower what it is idling at but i have no wish to do this the entire time i am planning on keeping this bike. i have been trying to find answers to what is causing this to no effect. please any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I have an '81 750F and that is about the rpm I am at at those speeds. I think that is pretty normal. However, I can't help you with the idle issue. I am sure someone else will.

I have the same bike. 82CB750K. That is standard cruising rpm. As far as the idle either linkage or vacuum leak.

Don't let the clutch drag to hold the idle down. That will burn up the clutch.
Sounds like a carb issue. Try adjusting the idle when warmed up. If that doesn't fix it then check for vacuum leak with starting fluid. Last you may need to balance the carbs.

maybe a sticking slide in the carb or vacuum leak in the rubber boots or the airbox.
