Have a listen please...

coffeegod
Hey everyone so I got my exhaust stud issue fixed up but I'm still getting a weird sound. Sounded like a cam chain to me so I went to adjust the front bolt and found out it's completely stripped out.... excellent! I bought some helicoils but haven't fixed that yet but I shoved a screwdriver down the hole to hold the rod in place as if it were the bolt and it still makes the sound. Adjusted the back two as well like the manual said too. After reading a few posts on here it sounds like the carbs could be out of sync? I did swap carbs from one bike to another. Here's an mp3 of the sound it's making if it helps to diagnose https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18385287/82%20CB750C.mp3

I really don't want to go buy the carb syncing kit if I don't have to.

Thanks.

I did not listen to the recording, but if the noise goes away when you give it throttle; the carbs are out of sync. Also that $80.00 you spend on the gauges will be the best $80.00 you will spend on your bike.

Simple as that huh :) It does seem to vanish when I throttle it. I guess I'll start hunting, I hope this is my last issue!

I agree with tools.  From what you describe I think it is a carb sync issue, and the $80 is a great investment.

I have sync'd my carbs 3 times with mine.  My bike runs so smooth as a result of being able to keep it nicely sync'd up.

I listened to the sound clip and couldn't really hear anything major. It could be a sync issue, but I couldn't say for sure. Does the sound change pr get quieter when you pull in the clutch? Or only when you throttle it a little. Clutch rattle will quieten down some when you throttle it.

It's the clicking noise that that get's fairly loud while idling that keeps concerning me. Little late in the night to fire it up again but I'm pretty sure the clutch made no difference.

I sucked it up and ordered one from Dime City Cycles in Florida, seemed to be the cheapest price I was finding. I do plan on building my CB750 chopper too so I suppose it won't be the only time I use them. I had hopes of riding a while back and I keep running in to little glitches that keep costing me another $100. Gotta stop counting my chickens!

Thanks again! I hope this is the last step!
