Hello no this honda dohc thing help with basket case

builder
Few common questions, but so's ya know i did download the manual for the 79 750k already. I have just purchased a basket case, i know the usual no no's but love to save the old stuff. partial frame partial motor is all i got and two wheels, no head pipes no wiring no airbox.could use a few tips to check before I built is into a nice bike. for instance minimum to get her running to check her over, I hear the carbs can be finicky with pod filters, will using the original airbox fix this ?or will a good carb overhaul and balance with mercury tubes work? if anyone has some spare parts as well mainly just suspension. full front forks and rear swing arm the rest I can make, some good rectifiers and regulators and a starter solenoid either new b/c we all know how good used parts can be and a set of coils.

thanks in advance !

Welcome to the forum!
I believe I speak for others as well in saying we would love to see some pics of the new project!
Doing a rebuild/restore can take quite a bit of work, but it's also pretty rewarding.
As you're running a dohc with the cv carbs, the factory airbox is really the only safe way to go. That being said, I can guarantee your carbs will still benefit from a good teardown and cleaning. An illustrated how-to can be found on this forum.

If you're looking for new parts, I have a ton in my garage that I've been needing to get rid of. I know I at least have a full front end off of a cb900 (beefier stance and air suspension) and a spare factory airbox that I would be willing to part with.

Feel free to ask questions, too. I've asked my share of stupid ones and always get helpful responses.

Have not picked it up yet I have a spare garage full of projects, (keeps me out of the bar)and need to make some room first.pics are noting worth looking at just a motor in frame with carbs dangling, partial wiring harness and two wheels and a set of butchered forks. thats it !just a pile !!!.

I figured the airbox would be the ticket I will look at a stock one and build my own out of stainless.that front end sounds interesting but is the front axle and caliper location the same as the stock 19" with rotor? I think the shipping is going to kill me from your location, since I am in the cold north, Alberta Canada. Well I talked to Ken at cycle x and he gave me a vague answer to my questions. reading between them made me think the stock air box was the way to go. I do alot of fabrication and have wanted to do a 750 4 for a long time. I got maybe 5 xs 650's and one 69 suzuki cobra I could not let the guy butcher. this is my last build 78 xs
