Help: Trans / Clutch Issues!

Half-Caf
As some of you are aware, I recently did a complete engine rebuild on my bike (DOHC) Things have taken time, but gone pretty smoothly up until now.

I am unable to roll the bike more than 6 inches -regardless of whether neutral is selected or the clutch is pulled in.
I lifted the rear tire of the ground and the bike starts up and runs, but dies when I try to ease the clutch out (even in neutral)
It is also hard to select gears (on or off) and I can only get it into 2 positions (neutral and 2nd, I believe)

I am worried that something didn't seat right when installing my trans...
Could someone with more experience give me some suggestions? Could this be an issue with the clutch?

Here is a shot of the gear-select assembly for reference:

You know I am not a DOHC guy, or am I much on trannys either, but since it will roll some, then lock up, I doubt it is the clutch. Pretty easy to pull the clutch and remove it from the list of variables.  Good luck bud. Wish I could help.

Well since you just put it back together, taking it apart will be simple.
A shiny said, you can probably disregard the clutch. most likely there is a gear in the wrong spot that is causing the issue. I don't think it is a shift fork or dog but check just in case.
My guess is a gear is on backwards.
