Help with 81 cb750c pods

locust17
I currently have these pods http://www.ebay.com/itm/Four-Oval-Air-Filter-POD-Filters-Honda-CB-750-CB750-C-F-K-1979-1980-81-82-54mm-/391038192566?fits=Model%3ACB750C&hash=item5b0bb14bb6&vxp=mtr

I belive it has 120 jets and still running rough. Whats the magic set up for pods? It has stock exhaust, if I change the exhaust tips for some slip ons will it affect the tuning of my bike? What set up should I do? 2 spark plugs were showing running rich and one fine and other lean. When I gas it, it feel like a dead spot.

Everything, & I mean EVERYTHING, I've every read or researched has always said the same thing.
Pod don't work right on DOHC 750's & they are more trouble than they are worth.

Find a used airbox on Ebay, ride & enjoy the bike.

Thank you i appreciate it, in the process of looking for a stock airbox, idk how it will react wtih the 120 jets that are much bigger than the stocks. I also have a stock exhaust. I have a synchronize coming in soon hopefully it'll help me out thanks!

Stick a K&N filter in the box. You may still be rich, but it won't be as bad as with the stock filter.

Well, since mine came with crap pods and no air box and everyone said it can't be done (challenge accepted!) I went for it.

Somewhere on a now defunct forum I was told to go with K&N pods and rejet to 75 & 110:

Then, put a few wraps of duct or electrical tape around each pod, leaving about 3/4" of filter exposed and take her for a spin. Add more tape or take some off as necessary until you get a good ride at all rpms. Cut the tape off and use it as a template for something more permanent like leather or metal collars.

This worked great for me.....until I was in a cross wind and then she stuttered a bit, so I added some more brass deflectors to the outside pods.

Now I have good power and no hesitation and pods!

(I have a home built exhaust with home built baffles, 4 into 2) (I'll get the whole build up here soon)

Should all be here somewhere. I've been running this thing for something like 3 years with the help of TOOLS, Luke, and Shiny. Things can be hard to find, though.

hey deskinthewoods,
I have pods on my CV carbs too ('79 cb750k limited) with the similar jet sizes and I'm curious how your high-end power is? I've recently got mine tuned pretty well, but on my first test drive I wasn't able to get it over 7k.

I love the brass on the pods!

I have good power right through the top. I'm no young speed demon but I have had no trouble breaking 140km/h (Canadian guy here) on an up hill climb and, yes, I have done-the-ton just to see what that feels like (F***in AWESOME!!!).

I seem to remember it bogging a bit until I wrapped the pods.

Okay, I think I just don't have enough of the pods blocked off. Thanks!
