Hidden battery in starter housing?????

00ps
Hey all, I'm building a 750 bobber. I'm going very minimalistic with the build, so kick start only. As I scratched my head thinking about where to hide the ugly yet necessary battery a thought came to mind... why not stick a small gel cell in the housing that is currently occupied by my useless starter motor. I have found gels at 12v 7Ah that fit. I can plug the starter shaft hole to keep all the oil in the bike. So my question is this, will the battery melt, and is 7Ah enough for a kick start running just head tail and brake light.

Thanks all!

As long as your charging system is ok, the 7A will work fine with kick only. If you want some extra insurance, change the tail and gauge lights to LEDs.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

You might want to check out cyclex. They appear to have an alternator configuration that does not require a battery. http://cyclexchange.net/Honda%20Cafe%20Page.htm

I have not bought from them, nor do I work for them. I just have passion about the CB's as you do.
From the site:
                        "NEW" Cycle X  charging system
* Single phase system allows battery or battery less operation. ( call for details )
* Rotor weighs only 1.640 lb's for high rev potential
* 14 amp system
* Kick only ( who needs a button anyway )
* Complete system weighs over 8 lbs less than a OEM system.

The problem I can see is that the starter housing is too hot an environment for a battery. Just my opinion.
