Here is the easy way to make Vietnamese PHO beef soup.
Twy it you will like.  LOL

One package of Knor beef broth cubes.
One package of Thai rice noodles or the angel hair like rice noodles.
Must be RICE noodles not wheat noodles.
one whole onion, cut in half peeled.
3 cinnimon sticks.
6 star anise. They look like little starfish about 1 inch in diameter. MUST HAVE.
1/4 cup of fish sauce.
1 tablespooon of sugar.

Put all of the above ingredients in a big pan with 12 cups of water.
Just peel the onion and cut in HALF.

Bring it to a boil.
Then turn it down to simmer for a couple hours with a lid on it.

Meanwhile boil a medium sauce pan half full of water and bring it to a boil.
Turn it off and put in a handful of noodles for 7 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Get some steak and cut it into cubes about 1 inch square and brown them till cooked.
Set aside.

When you are ready to serve get a bowl and put a small hand full of noodles in the bowl
Laddle very hot broth over the noodles and top with some cilantro, a couple bay leaves your beef cubes, and some scallions that have been saute'd.
Very important to do this part.

You can put Siriachi sauce on it too.
Also a squeeze of lime.

It is called PHO Beef soup.

I love Pho! I'm gonna try this.  Sounds a lot easier than using soup bones.  Though you can't beat good 'ol marrow for a good soup!  Thanks dude!

I know you are supposed to use beef leg bones but they are not easy to get where i live.
I just used the KNOR beef bullion cubes and it seems just as good.

A vietnamese word that is actually pronounced "fuh".  Don't ask me why they don't spell it that way.  I was corrected by a lady at a restaurant and when I asked, I got no answer. LOL.
