Okay, so I've read and watched quite a few videos on cleaning out rust from your gas tank, and there are a number of opinions..... vinegar vs muriatic acid, how to prevent flash rust (my biggest concern), coating.
What have you all done, and what products/procedures do you recommend??
For me personally, my tank isn't that bad. Scale 1-10, maybe a 3. Although it needs cleaned.

Go to the hardware store and get a bottle of "Krudcutter" A little of this and your tank will look like new. Just be sure to remove the petcock before using it, it will eat aluminum. After flushing it out and drying the tank (I use a heat gun in the filler hole) just coat it with some oil.

Thanks!! Why do you prefer Krudcutter over muriatic acid or vinegar? Will you not get flash rust with just a heat gun? Will the oil be enough to stop future rust or will it gum the carbs up?

The Krudcutter is phosphoric acid, the same thing that is used for prepping bare metal before priming in body/paint shops. It is not as hard on the metal as muriatic acid. The heat gun will dry out the tank, and a coating of oil will keep it from rusting.

Okay, I heard that phosphuric acid doesn't create flash rust like muriatic acid. That's my biggest concern, along with rust reforming.

What do you use for oil, and how much? Will that not cause any issues with the carbs?

How much Krudcutter would I use and what kind (there are several, the de-greaser I assume)? Is it diluted with water? How long should it sit 24hrs?
After it sits, rinse good with water, heat gun quickly after, and then the oil (curious that process). Sounds easy enough.
Sorry for all the questions, just want to get it right.

Just the standard Krudcutter, not the degreaser. Just put a cup of it in the tank, swish it around, rinse with cold water (several times), put heat gun into filler hole, let run until inside is dry, pour in and motor oil, rotate tank to coat inside, drain out excess. The oil will not hurt anything in any way, unless you spill it on the ground.

I Googled KrudKutter, and there are a ton of different kinds, the only one that looked like the standard, was "Krud Kutter Orginal Concentrated Cleaner/Degreaser and Stain Remover". Although, I did see a rust remover version.
