Howdy, new member stepping up.

CDMoto
Just bought an 82 CB750C. It's a nice old rusty girl but still being used and is PA inspected! I've always wanted an F model, (I wont say for how long, but I've seen these on the showroom floor when new). Then doing a little research it looks like there are only minor suspension differences between the models, ie shock length, rear wheel dia., front yoke angle and fork (leading axle vs straight). Hmm, the C is a handsome bike in it's own right, maybe just a few upgrades to the original package would be okay. I would post a picture, but not sure how to from my IPhone, yeah big dummy.

I have modern bikes (VFR800 and Buell XB12STT) but am really feeling the need to get back to basics.
Anyway, for now it'll make a nice winter hack.

This forum seems to be a friendly place, any feedback would be appreciated.

And lastly, what a sad weekend to see the young and talented SuperSic be taken.

Re: posting pictures from a phone.

Kind of depends on the phone.  I have an Android phone, and I know where the pictures are saved.  Given that, one way to do it would be to connect your phone to your computer, verify that the phone shows up in your system (Windows Explorer, for example), and drill down to where your pictures are stored on the phone.

If it's a regular phone-type phone, it may be more difficult than that.  Smartphones usually run with a data connection, so it's possible to use the phone's browser to connect to this site and load the pictures that way.

Too many choices, and no one good answer.  Not much help, is it...

thanks for the direction on where to NOT go to for parts.

BTW central PA is where I hang out, (lots of twisty roads, but don't tell anyone). And I can say that in my neck of the road Angel's in York is not too bad for old used parts, they will try. Also, if your are ever around Lewisberry PA you must stop in at Bob's Indian. It's an old Honda dealer (nos on the shelf), and they restore and sell old Indians and of course Hondas. They also put on the White Rose MC club Vintage bike meets.

I can second that.  Vintage cb750 is the first place I go.  Second place is motorcycle x, which is almost as good and a bit different in what they cover

Just tried to upload an image from my iPhone but I couldn't make it work.  I can't make it work from my iPad either but I'm sure I've done it before.

Re: Howdy, new member stepping up.

thanks for the input, my computetr was in the shop, glad i don't know how to work on them, dont look like they would be much to work on!

i have a question, sorry if it is here elsewhere, but what areas on these bikes should i pay particular attention to reqards mecanical issues, and what mods would be fairly straight forward to put the suspension a little closer to modern? I do not want to swap usd forks or anthing like that, just inexpensively improve the handling while maintaining the period look.

thanks

Progressive springs in the forks, and progressive rear shocks.

Congratulations on your purchase and project. I just bought a 1980 CB 750K basket case that I will attempt to restore over the winter. Good luck with your project. Hope to see some pics soon.

+1 on the Progressives.  I installed both in my '79, with heavy duty rear shock springs:  they're perfect for two-up, and a bit stiff, but tolerable, for just one person on board; standard springs would be recommended if it is just you riding.  Made my Honda ride every bit as smooth, and comfy as my son's '92 Yamaha 600 crotch rocket.  I never expected a crotch rocket to ride so smoothly, but it did.  The Progressives ride very smooth, and the handling is dramatically improved over OEM.  Just be sure to change out the ATF in the forks, at the same time (Dexron III/IV, much cheaper than Fork Oil, works very well); check the seals, as well, since re-building the forks all at once, is far better than doing them repeatedly...  Cheers!
