I seem to remember something about buell working on a hubless design but I have not found it and given how hd ran buell into the ground, I am not surprised it hasnt happened.

Not on those exact rims, but I've seen more than a few dozen designs on the Internet in the last few years. Most seem to be home made by skilled home engineers. I've seen them on bikes, trikes, and concept cars. Here's a shot I found of the rim on the designers workbench….

According to Wiki…the concept of the hubless rim is patented by Franco Sbarro who has design concepts going back to 1989 with this motorcycle….

He even put them on a concept car or two…here's one i found…

He didn't invent it though, as he is given credit for, since these monocycles from the early 1900's beginning in at least 1904 are essentially "hub less" even though they're just one big rim….

I have not found any technical schematics on them yet, and I am looking….they fascinate me. :)

I haven't looked into hubless rims but more cause I wouldn't want to try fitting them to my bike. :)
They look really cool though, but my concern is for the forces placed on them. I feel the same about single sided swing arms though. Mostly unfounded so it is just me.
