I've got an 81 CB750K and I have recently been taking it on the highway for short trips around the city. It seems to top out about 60 mph. Is this normal? If not, what could I do to get more speed. I don't need it to be incredible fast, I'm not drag racing it or anything but if I could get it to go 70 with little trouble I would be a more formidable vehicle in traffic.
Your bike should run 60 @about 4500-5000 rpm.It it should easily accelerate to 70 or 80 from this point.Check petcock and fuel filter for clogs, carburetors may need cleaning,or it could be ignition timing.If everything is working correctly bike should top out @100+.
