A few days ago I went to the supermarket & I parked on the sidewalk.
As I was leaving I just started to move & I saw a woman in my peripheral vision coming up behind me on my right. I hit the front brake with the wheel fully locked to the right.
I was a good battle, but in the end... Fiona brought me down.
As I lay on my back I couldn't help but to crack up!
This woman was so apologetic saying " I wasn't going to walk by you"
She seemed sincere but I have found the people here to be oblivious & the fact that I was on the sidewalk
I thought it prudent to stop short.
I didn't see any damage then ( a scratch on the crash bar & my mirror out of whack) Today I was looking & noticed my rear directional was drooping. I cracked the plasti-chrome housing at the underside of the screw hole.
I could have been worse.

I hate to hear that I'm glad you didn't get hurt and were able to laugh about it. I dropped mine once due to a dumb mistake that was all my fault, all you can do is laugh!..ok,I dropped it twice due to me being dumb...kickstands are handy.
Glad it wasn't bad,and you get points for being an observant rider!

I wish I could count the number of times I have dropped a bike. However I am nowhere near as good at it as Toolbabe. Glad, you aren't either. TOOLS

Glad you are ok. Around here sometimes instead of gravel they spread pecan shells on a parking lot. As I arrived a couple days ago to such a parking lot my front wheel slipped as I turned left and I stuck out my left foot and was able to correct, thank God. I was going slow enough for this correction to work. I realized that even though I had stuck out my foot out of reflex at some point I will hurt something doing that but I learned my lesson: pecan shell pavements are more slippery than they appear. Since I commute on it everyday, it would really ruin my day to drop and mess up my bike.

How did you pick it back up? Must have been pretty heavy all geared up.

Not really that heavy, I just grabbed the handlebars & pulled it up. The 750 isn't really that heavy.
Now had this been my Yamaha Venture, that would have been a major lifting. (aside from more damage)
My Venture weighs about 950Lbs & has more plastic than Joan Rivers <lol>

Just courious but why were you on the sidewalk? Where I live it is not legal to ride or park on a sidewalk for the very same reason on what happened to you. Glad your not hurt and the damage was minimal.
All stock except Dyna-S solid state ignition and tires. It has 32,000 original miles. The complete bike has had a frame bare restore.

Cuz I'm lazy & the up front spots were full. I always park on the sidewalk & the cops all know me & my bike. I screwed up & I started going while I looked instead of my usual look 1st.
It was literally a drop. I rolled, I saw her, stopped & Fiona's off balance weight pulled me down. No way I could have gotten hurt though.
I did have a bit of a time restarting the bike though (gas issue)
Had I been 20 years younger, I would have been hitting on this woman though. Can't now (wife would hit on me & not in a GOOD way) <lol>

HAHA! That's too funny Cabreco! I have parked on the sidewalks around here some myself.Nobody really cares too much about it and it keeps the bike and my back pack where no one will really mess with it.

O.k. lesson in picking up heavy azz bike OR just filling tired and weak;
My case fell on right side 1st shut off gas(mine had an auto off),2nd put in gear,3rd lockwheel to the right by pulling the grip,(keep that )but useingyo left hand,4th put yo butt up against the seat, grab as low as you can that is strong and not hot,....Useing your feet start pushing backwards (you'll be pushing butt) into seat.kinda slip footing back ,Michael Jackson style.DON'T lift with arms just legs,..
Bike was loaded about like this but no Ice chest,(this only had pilow and change of cloths in it)

I actually saw a video on how to lift a fully loaded Goldwing this way by back lifting in back onto the side stand...I always wondered what if it fell over on the port side.
No kickstande ther to stop it.
I guess it would be a 2 man job?
