I know it was going to have to be done, but I kept putting it off.
Then the other day it happened.
The Toolmatic started to idle rough. I got home, and pulled the carbs off. disassembled them, and put them in cleaner to soak. I all ready had the carb kits, but needed the o-rings, for the fuel tubs. I just happened to find them (they are 6mm X 10mm X 2 mm.)
After soaking the carbs. I checked the passages, for the accelerator pump. Sure enough clogged.
I got out my big cookie sheet, my pin vise, and drill bits. I sat down in the living room, and went to work. i took my pick, and made dimples in both of the little plastic plugs. Then I selected the perfect sized bit, for a no2 sheet metal screw. I carefully drilled the holes in the plastic plugs, and inserted the screws. After a little wiggling I had them out. I was very careful, and caught both springs (about 1/4 inch long by 1/8 inch wide.)
I dug out the little balls, and rolled them on sandpaper until they were shinny. I then cleaned out the ports, and seats. Good, so far.
Then I went to put them back together. I dropped the little ball down into the port in the float bowel. then attached the spring to the little plastic plug, and inserted it. Good, so far.
Now for the one in the accelerator pump cover. Dropped in the little ball. Then went to attache the spring to the plastic plug. Now this is where the dirty words came in. The little spring went flying.
I crawled around on the floor with a magnet, and a flash light, for an hour.
Finely gave up, and took one out of the set of carbs I was going to use on the Bob-a-matic.
Life is not about the number of breaths, you take, but the moments that take your breath away.
