There is not really any meaning to the letters, just model designation. As for oil, that is a loaded question. I use Texaco Havoline 10W-40. And change it every 3,000 miles. My engine is spotless inside!

K is the base model
F is the sport model
C is the "custom" model

Honestly not a lot of differences between the models other than trim packages.

F/supersport model did have dual disc's up front and a rear disc where the K had a single disc front and rear drum.

I believe the F had stiffer valve springs.

F also had a slightly different frame and comstars, where the K had wire wheels.

Oh and for oil I use Rotella T.  Whatever you choose, the main thing with oil is that you have to make sure you never put synthetic oil in that has friction modifiers.

General rule about engine oil for MCs:

IF you choose to use car engine oil for your MC engine, avoid oils that have the words "Energy Saving" or similar on the container.  These will impact your clutch's performance, since for these engines, the clutch and engine share the same oil.

You won't go wrong by using an oil made just for MCs.  It'll just cost you quite a bit more.  The stores sell WAY more car oil than MC oil, so they can charge less.  Same with filters.

I also use Rotella 5w40 in my bike, and like it a lot.

What a beauty she is... congrats!
The only one I am not accustomed to is the CB750S. Unless you are referring to the Nighthawk that was the CB750SC introduced in '83. I have also heard of an "N" model from members across the pond that was a European only model I believe.
As far as oil goes, I play it safe and stick to the Motorcycle spec oils, wether it comes from Texaco, Castrol, or Mother Honda because of the previous statement that Automove oils have friction modifiers that are not recommended for our clutch packs. I corrected a member here once for using Texaco Havoline in their bike, thinking it was an car oil but now see their Motorcycle 4T oil in the stores and used it this last time.

Welcome to the party,Superfly. Gorgeous bike you got there!

There's a million different opinions on oil. The part about friction modifiers is fact, though. Cannot use those at all. Air cooled bikes, such as these, can really beat up on engine oil in warmer riding weather. Thicker viscosity couldn't hurt.

+1 for the Rotella. Originally spec'd for diesels it'll take the punishment of an air-cooled engine. It was used for years in bikes before it received API SF/SG.
