And now to wash that joke down with a Labat Blue...
It's only illegal if you get caught.

If at first you don't succeed, use more lighter fluid

Carbs started leaking again.   Decided to buy an accurate millimeter caliper measuring gauge.  Set the gauge to 15.5mm and made a template using a credit card.  Adjusted the floats and no more gas leaking.
Thanks for all the help.

Glad you got it sorted. You now know you made the right choice coming to this forum.
At least if they start leaking again, you can turn to Plan B, Plan C and Plan D!

Yes, I am glad I found this forum.   Text step is to figure out how to
adjust the idle speed. Right now the bike dies because idle RPM are too
low (i.e., I need to increase the idle speeds.)

I also need recommendations on what exhaust to buy.  After 36 years the factory pipes need to be put to rest.  I am not looking for a loud exhaust.  Just something similar in noise to the factory pipes.

Re: Leaking fuel from overflow line

Idle speed is adjusted using the black plastic knob underneath the carbs (clearly visible in the photo you posted of your carbs).
Exhaust system is pretty much personal preference. My '79 CB750L had a nasty 4-2 system on it when I purchased it. I dumped this in favour of a Marshall/Jama 4-1, which sounded nice, looked cool and suited the engine. I then decided I wanted something like the original 4-4 that the 750L would have had as standard, but original systems for this bike are as rare as rocking-horse sh*t, so I got a used 4-4 system from a 900 custom. Fits perfectly at the engine end and just needed a small bracket making up to re-locate the prop stand rubber stopper. A system from any of the 750/900 dohc's will fit.

Re: Leaking fuel from overflow line

Thanks again for the advice.  I'll take care of the idle tonight and will try to find an exhaust set from a 900 custom.
