Line Bore Help

Durf
Ok guys,

I've got a DHOC CB750F and it was having some issues. Pulled the engine apart and found that one of the main bearings was damaged as well as the case. Do any of you know of someone who offers line boring for these cases? I've been searching for a while now and haven't had any luck.

I have not heard of anyone ever line boring one of these cases. In order to do it, you would need to do every hole going through the cases (all the transmission holes) because of having to machine material from the case mounting surface to enable the boring bar to have material to machine off. If it could be done it would be really expensive. I would suggest getting another engine. Where are you located? I have a good bottom end that I would sell.

I second what Tools said.

Another way to repair it ( without remachining the entire case set) would be to have the damaged journal welded up with enough extra material so that just that one journal could be align honed.

Ask your local welder and machinist what those orders would cost and I bet you'll find that new cases will be cheaper.

Don't forget that cases area machined as a set and the halves can't be interchanged.
