Looking to buy a 1977 Honda 750.......

oldiron73
New to this site but not to the hobby.
Just wondering what a 1977 Honda 750K is worth.
The 750 has 13,000 miles on it and the owner has had it since 1980.
The Last it was ran was about 8 to 10 years ago and has been in a dry storage area
Some surface rust on the Chrome and rims, should clean up nice.
Tires are dry rotten and brakes might need some attention.
Tank is clean but the throttle is tight from sitting, carbs with need to be gone over.
Clean title and owner did state that he did top oil it before storing it-turns over with good compression.
Just would like some imput on what these bikes go for.
I do like the idea that it has low miles on it and that the owner has owned it since 1980.
Thanks Mark(oldiron73)

From what I have been seeing from 1200 to 2500 depending on condition.  Higher if stock.  Some are just asking to much. There are still plenty of these bikes out there.  In your case I would offer 5 to 800 if paint and all is in ok condition.  Sounds like it will need about 1000 dollars make over if you are able to do the work yourself just to make it road worthy.   I got mine for 100 dollars about 10 years ago. Took me five years to get it running again. Was sitting in a what we cowboys call a run in barn where the horses can get in out of the rain if need be.  It had sit so long (about 15 years) that it was stuck in the dirt. The old owner was in jail and had abused the bike. So a complete rebuild was in order.   Something I plane on posting here as soon as I get a chance.  Good luck on your purchase.  Keep us informed on you progress.

Prices also seem to vary a lot by location.  Where are you?

I bought my 1981 750K for $800 and it was running well and had been continuously running since it was bought, but had 80K km's on it.  I'm in Ontario, Canada.

I've heard that non-running bikes can go for as much as $2500 in Florida, so prices vary a lot by location.

I am going to cafe it if I do purchase the bike.
I live in the upper Midwest know as Wisconsin.
I can get the bike for 800 maybe a little less but he sounded pretty firm on the price, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I would say good price.  You can fix anything wrong with it!  Today alone I have pulled the carbs and replaced the coils.  Will be posting pics and explanations soon.

I have a 1978 CB750K 4, that has 29,600 miles on it, and owned since new. Bike is in perfict shape, and has always been garaged.
It has a Windjamer Fareing with radio, touring trunk, and a slideing back rest, and engine gaurd. Starts and runs great. Oil and filter changed every 2,500 miles, runs clean. Even when not  being ridden engine has been run and oil and filter changed. Paint shines like new. Based on what I have researched as a cllassic bike, I will be asking $3,500. I live in Washington State.

Regards,

Chuck

Old Iron, I just bought a 1980 complete cb750 with 32,000 miles for $600 just a few days ago. It is bone stock and doesn't run. ( the seller says it did when he parked it. The bike sat in a barn for the last 2 years. the last inspection was in 2004 8 yrs. So, I'm thinking longer. Doesn't matter because, I'm removing the engine from the frame to powder coat the frame and having the carb rebuilt no matter what.  While the engine is on my bench take it over to the shop to have it tested and rebuild if necessary.

Anyway, you did good on your price, I think.

At 32,000 all it should need is new gaskets, seals, and the valves adjusted.
