Master Cylinder HELP!!!! 81 cb750k

CptStinkyBoots

just bought this thing not too long ago and it was in some pretty bad shape, fixing it up and trying to get it running by summer... when i tried to remove the cap off of the master cylinder res, the screws broke off cause they were rusted to crap, cant pull them out, thinking aobut getting a new master cylinder itself

should i do that or can i drill them out and get new ones?
can i use some sort of aftermarket master cylinder for now that isnt specific to my model and year?
if i have to get OEM anyone know where i can find the cheapest replacement

PLEASE HELP I WANT TO RIDE BY SUMMER!!!!

it's my first bike so im probably a little over my head

Welcome to the forum. As to drilling out the screws. There is a lot it depends on. A picture of what is left would help. However any master cylinder will work. You can use one off just about any bike, and there are reasonably priced aftermarket ones. Here is a link that has them. http://slingshot-cycles.com/

A rebuild kit for your master cylinder will probably run you about $30 once you get it shipped to you. These bikes are not known for having extremely strong brakes. A newer model master cylinder would probably be a nice upgrade actually

I'd suggest putting a front fender on those fork tubes... That, or a fork brace.  The tubes will flex without some sort of brace on them, and a fender will not only stabilize them, but it will keep the road hash off of you, and the front end/engine.  Best of luck with your restoration.  Cheers!

Damn, I did not know that, but i do have the fender and i am going to put it back on. When i got the bike it was in pieces and i just threw on the tank and seat to take a picture and show it off to friends. I jumped the gun really bad on this purchase but i got lucky so far i haven't noticed too many problems... knock on wood
