Very cool. Most WW-I airplanes were powered by rotary engines like that. However on the airplane engines there was no way to throttle them other then turning the ignition on and off. I wonder if the car engine is able to be throttled, or if speed id controlled by the "Band" transmission only?

Wow. So the crankcase and cylinders spun with the propellers? Seems like a lot of mass to sling around with tremendous centrifugal force. I did not know they were used in that way. Learn something new every day.
