Mileage range of an 81 750K

Cabreco
What range should I get from a full tank of gas on an 81 CB 750K?

I want to keep a basic number in my head for the trip odometer. Even though there is a reserve I hate to get that low. So what would you guys say would be a decent number of miles from a stock 750K tank?

Well, my 78k has about a 5 gallon tank. I assume yours will be close. If you are easy on the gas and things are in tune, you should get at least 40 mpg. So I would say about 150 miles before hitting reserve.
This, of course, depends on your average speeds and if you have a lot of stop and go driving. More stop and go = lower mileage.

If you hit reserve by 100 miles, and you ride smoothly, then your carbs are not tuned right and are too rich.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

My '79 K averages 43 MPG, with a 5 gallon tank.  I hit reserve around 150, or so.  Your best option is to measure your mileage after 100-120 miles by filling up.  Look in the manual, or online, to see how many gallons your tank holds, then determine how much your reserve is by running until you hit it -- fill up immediately, if possible, and mark how much you put in, or calculate using your mileage and tank capacity.  It really is the only way to be certain.  If you are concerned, you can always strap a gas can onboard, but I would avoid it, if possible.  Forwarned  is forarmed.  Cheers!

Well from my last fillup I have gone 120 miles so far & still not on reserve.
It's mostly around town driving at under 50 mph. No fast starts or blasts (Not anymore now that I'm an "old guy") gave up the wheelies along with the chopper 30 years ago.
Ok so soon I'll be hitting reserve & get my magic number

Thanx for the help

My 81 CB750FZ does around 180 miles of back-road running at 60 to 80mph running, before I have to go onto reserve. Average seems to be around 45mpg.

The tank on your 81 CB750K is 5.28 gallons. But I agree, the only way you'll know what your range will be is to just drive til you hit reserve the first time.

Rodgil you were pretty close on the estimate.

187 miles to reserve
44 mpg city

Now that I have my baseline, I can start making some road trips.
