I thought i would share some pics of my bike I am building. The bike was a little rough when I got it and I pprobably paid a little too much for it. I got it for 900. I really love the bike and I having a lot of fun building it. This was it when I first got it. Pretty Ugly!

This is where it is at right now. I had to have a lot of work done on the carbs and get a new fuel tank. Plus new tires, chain etc. The bike has some oil leaks and it need of some paint and polish on the motor. I have clubman bars, just waiting to get new master cylinder and get the seat redone.

Awesome looking bike. Could you elaborate a bit as to what work you had to have done to your carbs? I have a 750 with pretty much the exact same setup as far as pod filters and exhaust go (it even looks the same) and I'm having a bear of a time getting them to run right.

When I got the bike the carbs leaked gas and the bike ran really rough. The pod filters were already on the bike. I have a lot of experience building cars but none working on motorcycles. So i took it to a friend of a friend to do the carbs; He had to replace all 4 float bowl gaskets, 1 of the diaphrams and all 4 needles. He cleaned the carbs and had to work on the needle seat to get them to seal up and not leak gas. He said the carbs had been jetted, so he left the pod filter on there. I have read a lot about them not working well with these carbs. When i got the bike back it ran great, however, after it got warm the idle would creep up to about 3000 rpm and stay there. So I just took it back to him, he thinks it just needs readjusting. We will find out soon. I have read a lot of post about people having the high idle after the bike gets hot, but I have not seen it positive answers on what causes it. Sorry this post is so long winded, hope it helps you out.

Do you happen to know what jet size you have on there? I'm also having the issue with the idle creeping, I was thinking it might be a stuck cable. I'm also seriously considering maybe doing the Keihin CR Special 29mm carbs for simplicity sake but if you get yours to run right and don't mind sharing some info I may not have to  Thanks for the info so far though.

I am not for sure on JET size. I can ask the guy working on my carbs. I have brand new throttle cables, and my machanic seems to think the carbs just need to be readusted. I will post more info as I get it. Please if anyone has any advice feel free to share. The guy helping me on my bike is not used to working on older bikes.

Hmm, the high idle must be a common thing then, mine idles at around 3500 now. Any updates on yours?

You might want to check the choke cable and adjustment also.  It uses a cam to step up the idle a bit, but should top out around 2500-3000 rpm.  It should also slowly reset itself to the off position after a bit.

ah Jreed your bike looks great man, I love the bar end mirror, the hooded headlight, new signals, and the new master cyl looks way better. Can't wait to see the new seat! How much/where did you get some of those accessories for?

Here are some new pic of my bike. I recently bought a complete bike for parts and it has come in super handy. I got both side covers off of it. I painted the side covers and tank Rio red off of a early 90s Honda Civic. I painted the motor flat balck and polished the covers out. I painted the frame low gloss black with some tractor paint from TSC. The fender is he stock fender just cut down with a taillight I picked up off ebay(which is not as bright as I had hoped for, might replace soon) the turn signals are some I picked up at the local truck stop. I am running clubman bar(which clear my tank perfect without making any stops) and a rake master cylinder off of a CBR 929. Future plans are braided brake lines, new fork seals, and to polish the forks and rear brake drum. Thanks for looking.

nice job on the seat, that looks exactly the compromise i'm after, is it just the original seat cut to shape? Any mods needed on the rear frame? Have you tried it with a pillion yet? Actually that's pretty spot on what i'm after, very nice bike

Thanks. That is just the stock frame and stock foam. The foam was reshaped and the frame was left alone. It still rides pretty good too.
