You do have two throttle cables. One pulls the throttle open, and the other pulls the throttle closed. You have one broken cable. I would recommend that you go on and replace both of them since the whole assembly will be apart, and the other cable might also be in bad shape, and ready to break. As for how to hook them up, first figure out which one opens, and which one closes the throttle. You can do this by twisting the throttle, and watching which way the cable ends move. You can also look at the carbs, and see which way the throttle assembly will move to open, and close it. When attaching the cables, first attache them to the throttle twist assembly. Then slip each cable end into its little slot in the throttle lift assembly on the carbs. Then slide the threaded part of the cables with the adjuster nuts into their holders. Adjust tension according the factory service manual which can be downloaded for free from the top of the home page here in the manuals thread.

I have a 1980 CB750C, and I took the carb bank off for a rebuild, but I can't for the life of me remember how the cables attached. Does anyone have a good picture or a diagram showing how the throttle and choke cables are supposed to attach to the carb? how is the little clamp on the bracket for the choke cable supposed to be oriented?
