Need some creative advice

FastCletus
I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out where to put turn signals on this bike.  I currently have a 4 into 2 exhaust (one pipe on each side).  I plan on getting a 4 into 1 pipe .  IF I do that then I can mount the liscense plate /  brake light onto rear axle.  If I do that where in the hell do I mount the turn signals?  I was thinking maybe adding a metal bracket in between Shock bolt and frame and mount signals on that.  My issue with that is I dont have metal working tools and I am worried I can make a metal piece precise so it might look like shit.  Any aftermarket parts out there ya'll know about?

Hmmmmm....i got nothing. Tough one Cletus! Still pondering on it tho....

But if you decide that you need to make some cardboard templates ( frozen pizza boxes work best-thin and stiff) and mail them to me,I'd be glad to cut whatever you need.

I am with you Tools, and in a perfect world thats what I would do.  But I asked a Police officer here in town and they said if the bike came stock with signals then it has to have them.  I think what I will do is put the 2 on the front and just omit the rear and play dumb (thats easy for me) if I get stopped.

My bike did not have front turn signals on it, so I got a bit of aluminum bar stock (1" by 1/8" thick), some aftermarket front turn signals, and fashioned a U-shaped bracket to bolt onto the forks, underneath the horn bracket.  Chances are if you search for some of my VERY EARLY postings, there might be a picture of it on our forum.

I'm guessing you can do the same, finding some way to bolt it onto the frame under your seat.  Maybe make 2 L shaped brackets to bolt in where the tops of the shocks attach to the frame?

Granted, something well formed, welded, and painted and stuff would be the way to go, but if you just want to obey the letter of the law (thou shalt have rear turn signals), either way would work.

I hope this helps.

hey fastcletus,  I'm about to rewire a few rear signals as well,  Im going to bolt on something small like bullet signals right to the shock mounts, looks like thats the best bet for you too.  Might save you once, it's worth it (tailgaiters)

I'm in the running for the slowest build so it might be a while.  I was going to order up the clubman bars and flip them like jcarroll to save my back but not sure yet.  If i go cafe, i can flip them.

Hoosier Daddy
I really believe you are over thinking this, all you need it a piece of 3/4" or 1" wide X 1/8" thick aluminum strip they sell at the hardware store (usually in 3' lengths). Cut a piece about 3" long and drill two holes in it, one the size of your shock stud, the other the size of your turnsignal stalk.

File or sand down the sharp coners and give them a slight radius and hit it with some mother mag polish.
Then remove the shock nut and fit this on. Now you have a hole to mount your turn signal to.
I mounted the front turn signals on my 'oldWing this same way at a bolt that was already at the bottom of the shelter (fake fuel tank) I can get better pics if you want.

I bought these new kind of lights mfrom ebay.  $12.50.  I think I can just do what was said and fab a quick bracket using tools at home, and it should look Ok.  will take pics when I am done

I figure they are worth 12.50 for curiosity sake
