Easyrider, you nailed it when you said there were a lot of parts.  Not doing much work, just gathering up lubricants, belts, hoses, bearings, coolant, seals, wipers, blah blah blah.  Every time I put a wrench on somethng it leads to something else.  I was also trying to support a local bike shop, instead of ordering on the cheap from the web.  But they keep coming up with stuff outta the back room.  I gotta slow down the supply line by ordering stuff and waiting for it to arrive before I run out of beer money for the month!  It's only the 5th for hecks sake!

A thunderstorm moved in here and cooled it down to 80.  If it clears out, I'm going to jump on the 750 and head up the mountain to clear my head and try to remember why I got this thing.

Re: New Ride

Hoosier Daddy
Thought of you yesterday...  When I built the engine 4 years ago I was warned to not use the head gaskets that came in my Vesrah complete gasket set. Was told the majority of the gaskets are fine, but should spend the extra money for the HONDA head gaskets. But at $50 a piece I opted to used the aftermarket ones. It's been ok for 3 seasons BUT this spring I noticed white sweet smelling smoke on start-ups. DAMN!
So yesterday I had to replace a head gasket that failed. Letting you learn from my mistake I'll stress, if you ever have to do the job, it's worth the money to do it with OEM head gaskets the first time around.

Don't wait for opportunity to knock... kick the door down and drag the old harlot in!

Re: New Ride

Beekeeper
I'm adding the head gasket info to my notes.  There is a pace to these things, and actually, I'm finding that looking forward to getting the parts is part of the enjoyment for me.  Finding an excuse to run down to the retailer and filling my pockets with goodies I'll need later gets me rushing and ahead of myself.
