New coils

Hi\\G'day board,
What says the board, can I replace the dud suzuki coils on my beautiful 750 Cexclusive with those off a 1986 VF1000 ?
Or will the blow holesin mt pistons ?
Also, can I put slightly hotter plugs in my motor, it has an oil cooler, so may run a little cooler than most already.

The coils yes you can. it may take some enginering to get them mounted. The plugs you should stay with resister type plugs but you can go one hotter than stock. like from NGK D8EA to NGK D9EA will be ok.

Going with vern a bit but not. As he says, the coils should be fine. Main thing is that they are dual fire and the ohm ratings are fairly close. Being yours were about 3, most anything should be open. And vern said, mounting is the tricky part.

For the plugs, for ngk, the lower the number, the hotter the plug. so going with the d8ea, going to d7 is hotter and d9 is cooler.
Kiwi, in nz, being middle of "winter", a d7 should be a good choice for you. Once it warms up, the d8 should be good. If it gets REALLY hot, say 100F, then the d9 would be good but most of nz does not get that warm from what I have heard. People that mod their engines sometimes go with a cooler plug too.

Wont the hotter plogs help burn fuel better if the coils are weak, ot if the mixture is too rich ?

It can help burn a little extra fuel but if it is a weak spark, it might not make a difference.
