New guy

Jlyoung08
Hey I'm a 23yr old guy from Nederland Texas. I just recently picked up a 77 cb750k. I wanna go cafe with it so any input or ideas are greatly appreciated. I also have a cb550 that I'm going to restore to factory. I'll post pics when I get Internet at my new house Monday. I live with 2 buddies who both have Harley's and I just can't help but be different

Well the 550 has some sentimental value since it was my grandpas so I'd like to keep it as he had it. I picked up the 750 for 1400 running and everything works and needs a lot less work lol

They'll get a kick out of that for sure. That's awesome you got it back though! We're bout to build a frame in our garage. Just gotta make some room. Their Harley's and another of our buddies Harley both my cb's and 2 dirt bikes are in here now haha.

I wanna find out more about the 750. It's all torn apart right now. Due to me taking the faring crash bars and other things off to make it not look like a old cop bike

And that's how it sits now. Brought it home took it around the block a few times and then started to tear it down. Where would y'all recommend finding parts both factory and aftermarket?

There's just something about a old cb I love. But I'm also in love with old stuff. I have a 66 mustang with a 289 66 f100 also a 289 and a welding machine made out of a model "a"

How'd your bike get stolen?? Ours are all locked up tight

I'd like to find a shop manual for the 750

Man that's crappy.

That'd be awesome! I'll return the favor. I work at a machine shop in Beaumont. Where we build pipe chamfering machines, bar shears and all sorts of other stuff. Also have my own person lathe in my dads shop. So if you want something made just let me know and I'll gladly do it.

On the homepage you can find a link to the Factory Service Manual. It is a pdf file and is a really nice copy. And it's free!

And yes,old stuff is cool! I'd love to see some pics of that welding machine!

Good luck on your bikes! Anything you need to find out,ask away...this place is full of know-it-alls

The Windjammer + Lowers + Mounting Bracket, should fetch a decent price -- they're rare to have all three.  They also provide tremendous comfort on long rides, particularly in inclement weather.  Try e-Bay, and CL (better -- no S/H fees, or packaging to mess with).  They appear to be in excellent condition, so unloading them should be easy.  Best of luck with the project!  Cheers!

One side is slightly messed up but everything for it is there. I'll post some pics of it sometime today. Also have the sissy bar and luggage rack for the back. It's a little rusty but my roommate is a powder coater so I could get it coated black easily.

Beaumont and Nederland TX.  I spent about 3 months there working on Time Warner's cable TV system.  Good people.  There's a place that does chicken fried steak...can't remember the name.  The Pig Stand, maybe? Good stuff.  There was another place in Groves where we used to eat: Larry's Cajun Kitchen. Crawfish cornbread, peel and eat shrimp, and live crawfish in the store.

MC content: my son ratted out his CB550F with 4 > 1 straight pipes (no muffler until later), clubman bars, and duct tape on the seat.  What a fun bike that was. As far as your projects, do what you think best.  Everyone's got an opinion, but your own is the only one that matters.

*sigh* I wanna go back.

Larry's is great. If you're ever back down here hit me up and I'll take you out to pine tree lodge in fannette. It's very good. I'm not sure of I wanna do 4 into 1 or 4 to 4 with no mufflers. Moneys tight considering I'm a college student and rent a house but I have a toy fund. There's so many options of what id like to do so it makes it hard haha

Re: New guy

Fun question boys. Does this thing have a egr? There's a tube off the air box that goes to a diaphragm then up to the valve cover. Or is it a pcv or something

It is an egr of sorts. But not like you would think of in auto terms. It's just a breather cannister that would collect any oil vapors that might not make their way back into the engine. There are no real working/moving parts in there. There is a foam filter and a spring to keep the filter in place. They do have to be cleaned every once in a while as they can fill up with sludge.  You should be able to find some info on it in the FSM-factory service manual.
