Hi Gang,
Sinjin's the name. I am from northern Cali. A couple of weeks ago I rescued this "ugly betty" from some guy's backyard. He wanted $500 for it, I offered $200 and he took it. The good new is, it have a title. I asked him when was the last time i ran. He say 4/5 yrs ago and it keep overheating so he didnt know how to fix it so he just left it in his backyard. Well here she is at my garage.
here's what inside the carb look like..no wonder it was overheating.
Forks...before and after polishing.
I am sure I will be asking ton of questions from you guys and I'll be greatly appreciated any advice, tips that you can offer.
Thanks
Sinjin

Looks like all the pieces are there. Now comes the fun part: taking each section apart, cleaning/inspecting/refurbishing all the bad stuff, and moving to the next one.
I reckon the forks are about halfway complete. :-)
Take your time, document your processes, and don't be afraid to reach out with questions. You'll find we're an amenable bunch, willing to help, and wanting you to succeed.
Some day, we'll have to have a big meet-and-greet, with all the people who've been helped with this board, and Re-Run's generosity. Wouldn't that be fun.... Luke M

What is that crap . No wonder it was overheating. It had to be running lean.

Welcome to the forum, Im fairly new myself and I probably get on here at least once a day just to read and check things out. The guys here are full of knowledge and have been a really big help to me and will be for you too! Awesome bike by the way, definitely not a bad starting point for only $200! Good luck with it and keep us all posted!
Luke, I was actually thinking about that a little while ago as I was sanding and inhaling primer and bondo dust ....it'd be awesome if at some point we could all get together and do a ride or something and actually check out first hand the bikes weve all only seen pictures of.

Since it was overheating. Should i be concern with the engine? currently the carb is taken off and being rebuilt. While I wait, should i be messing with the motor. I was thinking about using the service of Cycle Exchange. any thoughts?

I would do a compression check. If the compression is good, don't worry about it. I know of a CB 750 SOHC with over 200K miles on it.

I will not be using any of the parts in the above pic. so if any of you would like the parts lets me know. two of the exhaust have holes in them.the other two are good condition. I also have the windjammer and seat.

I might be interested in the front fender. Does it have any rust, or dents?

Yay! Another 78!
Just to toss this idea at you, you can do a dual disk with the K parts.
We have a writeup here on how to do it.

If we all do a get together, lets make it in Kansas so we can do a basement crawl. Sort of like a pub crawl where you ride from pub to pub, but in this case we'll ride from basement to basement and we'll each be able to buy 3 or 4 more bikes to ship home! It's a win-win for everyone!

Hey Shiny, I think he is wanting your disc break swing arm. I think he has us confused. However it should be easy to tell us apart. I'm much better looking. TOOLS
